Canada

Canada is one of the most important countries in the world. In terms of size it is second only to Russia. The country is located in the North America, surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean to the east, the Pacific Ocean to the west and the Arctic Ocean to the north. Canada is known for its multiculturalism. The country has two official languages: English and French. The capital city is Ottawa. The symbol of Canada is maple leave, which adorns the state flag. Canada is associated with the beaver. The official anthem of the country is the song "O Canada", which was created in 1880. The author of the song is Calix Lavallee.

Archaeological researches indicates that the first settlers of the territory of present Canada came there 25.5 thousand years ago. Later, Canada's Indian tribes and Inuit came. It was only in the fifteenth century, British and French colonists started to reach the territory. Europeans quickly took land and settled to form a new state. Mass emigration from Britain and Ireland began in 1815. Officially, Canada was founded in 1867 by four colonies, operating as British North America. Canada received independence from the United Kingdom under the Act of Canada in 1982. Currently, Canada is a constitutional monarchy. The head of state is Elizabeth II.

Automatically after the United Kingdom's entry into World War I in 1914, Canada joined it too. In 1931, Canada gained independence under the Statute of Westminster. However, two years before the economic crisis began, which significantly weakened the state economy. During the Second World War, Canada was manufacturing, not only for their own troops, but also the army of Great Britain, China and the Soviet Union. This has contributed to economic growth. After the war, Canadian immigrants began arriving to the devastated Europe, which led to a further development of the state. Currently Canadian consists of 10 provinces (Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec and Saskatchewan) and three territories (Nunavut, Northwest Territories and Yukon). Each unit of the federation has its own symbol, motto, and a unicameral parliament and the government, which is headed by the Prime Minister.

There are a lot of tourist attractions in. It is a the country of rich architecture and nature. The place for skiers are certainly the Rocky Mountains. In the vicinity there are also some other popular places like: Jasper Park and Banff National Park. And by the middle of this mountain range scenic runs a breathtaking road - Icefields Parkway. Snow-covered mountains are an unforgettable sight, often immortalized on postcards from Canada. Just as Prince Edward Island, here also can be found the beaches. Trip over Niagara Falls also guarantees a miraculous memories (a cascade of water to 50 meters) and the Haida Gwaii archipelago (200 islands with unique flora and fauna). Every year thousands of tourists visit Dawson City, a city that became famous of gold rush of the nineteenth century.
