The following principles have been
adopted by TorontoCAN.
1) Advocate for policies, programs, public services and a strong public
and social infrastructure that will enhance the quality of life of every
resident and ensure democratic involvement in the life of the City.
2) Oppose the agenda of privatization including:
3) Work to establish a new relationship (both financial and governance)
between the City, Province and Federal governments that will allow
Toronto and all municipalities to retain and build their social and
physical infrastructure.
4) Educate and activate our own members and communities at large around
the impact of City Council's decisions to privatize both hard and soft
services and how that affects our lives, jobs, and the communities we
live in.
5) Continue to build our coalition with new allies, labour unions,
community groups, and other cities to create a broad and diverse
cross-sectoral involvement in our campaigns, and maintain a strong
community-labour presence at City Hall.
If
you agree with these principles we welcome the
endorsement of your group, labour
union or organization.
